5G BROADBAND

Our home and business 5G and 4G mobile broadband services, offers the felxibility of a fixed services with a mobile service. In some instances 5G services can deliver gigabit speeds and can be ideal for a disaster recovery services for business users or a permanent connection for home users in the hardest reach areas.

How does 5G broadband work?

5G isn't just a technology designed for today's smartphones; it has been developed to enable extensive interconnectivity between multiple smart devices. This is the concept behind IoT (Internet of Things)—a type of communication that 5G makes possible.
One of 5G's primary applications is its ability to deliver extremely fast broadband connections almost instantly to any home or business within its coverage area, without relying on physical cables or wires. Unlike traditional internet service providers that use fibre optic or copper cables to connect properties to the internet, 5G broadband offers a wire-free connection via the mobile network. This means you can enjoy high-performance broadband without the need for a landline.
5G broadband works similarly to 5G smartphones. Instead of a phone, however, the 5G SIM card is placed into a high-spec 5G router, which we provide free of charge. This router then shares the high-speed connection over WiFi or your wired network, enabling all your devices to connect and benefit from it. Essentially, 5G broadband functions like 4G broadband but utilizes cutting-edge technology that transmits significantly more data in a much shorter time—resulting in a faster, more efficient internet connection.
Additionally, our 5G technology integrates seamlessly with VoIP phone systems, which are widely used by businesses today.

FAQs

How does 5G broadband work?

5G works in much the same way as 4G. It even works on the same airwaves. The difference is in the radio frequencies that are utilised. While 4G works on frequencies of 700-2500 MHz, 5G works on a much higher 28 GHz frequency. This means it can transmit more data in less time, resulting in a much faster and more reliable internet connection than 4G can provide.

The only ‘downside’ to this higher frequency is that the 5G mobile signal cannot travel as far as the 4G signal currently does. That’s why new 5G masts have been popping up around the country. The more antennas, the greater the reach of 5G, and the more people can benefit from this 5th-generation technology.

What does 5G have to do with broadband?

If your connection is delivered through the existing copper cable network, fibre-optic cables, or coaxial cables, these are all wired connections that aren’t powered by mobile technologies.

However, some people do use wireless internet services delivered through mobile networks. They may use a wireless modem, or use their smartphone as a hotspot and connect their computers and tablets to their phone’s signal. This is usually done when a wired broadband connection is unavailable. But with the widespread rollout of 5G, which is both faster and more reliable than the 4G network, there’s increased interest in using wireless connections as an alternative to wired home broadband rather than as a last resort.

How fast is 5G broadband?

While 4G can deliver speeds of up to 50Mbps, making it 20 times faster than 3G, the 5th generation technology is even speedier. Currently, 5G speeds vary between 130Mbps and 300Mbps . And these speeds may be even faster in the future as technology continues to evolve.

However, it’s important to remember that there are never any guarantees. 5G speeds are generally fast, but they can vary considerably due to several different factors. Speed can be affected by:

Your location - Your proximity to a 5G mast - The number of devices accessing data from the same mast

- The type of online activities each connected device is carrying out

Can a 5G router be used on a wired network?

Absolutely, a 5G router works the same as any other router that provides you a broadband connection. We simply connect the router to your existing wired network that runs through your building.

Can I have both a wired broadband connection and 5G broadband?

We have a number of companies that deploy both a wired connection and a 5G connection.

This can be for a number of reasons:

They are using both, so should one fail, the other will work as a fail over.

They use for example, one connection for CCTV and one for internet access.

They are currently paying for a wired broadband connection which is slow and they want ultra fast broadband until their wired broadband contract has expired.

Does your router only pickup 5G signal?

No, our routers also work on 3G and 4G signals. which means that should there be an issue with a 5G mast in your area, our router will automatically switch over to 3G or 4G masts.

Can I take the router anywhere with me?

For the most part, yes. Because it can work on 3G, 4G and 5G, you can use it on boats and camper vans etc (as long as you have mains power). It can be also used abroad but you would need to let us know first so you don't get hit with a huge data roaming bill.

Are there any upfront or hidden charges?

No, there are no upfront costs and the router we provide is free. We even send an engineer to you to check you have great connection before you order and to install it for you for FREE! The only time we might charge you extra is if you have a complex network within your building that requires extensive network configuration.
